Leasing Manager - Affordable Housing

About the role

Fairstead is a real estate firm focused on affordable housing, owning and managing more than 30,000 apartments across 28 states. Its Leasing Manager supervises properties and the leasing specialists to keep occupancy rates and renewal rates high, makes sure leases are completed properly and that properties meet the standards set by Fairstead Management, and ensures tenants are satisfied and properties are safe.

Key responsibilities

• Meet prospective residents, interview them and assess eligibility against established criteria
• Show vacant and model units and property amenities, and follow up on rental status
• Run the applicant screening process and prepare leases and related addendums
• Maintain lease records, the waiting list and other reports in line with policy and procedures
• Follow affordable housing programs and HUD/agency regulations, and NYC rent regulation laws
• Check that leasing data entered into property software is accurate, and review move-in files before and after move-ins
• Review weekly occupancy reports and traffic data, and prepare an analysis of call sources
• Work with leasing consultants, monitor occupancy and lead the leasing team toward its goals
• Assist with resident retention, provide ongoing customer service, process work orders and help with day-to-day property operations

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree
• Three years of on-site sales or leasing experience
• Knowledge of local fair housing laws
• Self-motivated, with effective communication and strong written and oral skills
• Able to meet tight deadlines and work collaboratively in a dynamic environment
