Lead Test Engineer – Power Generation

About the role

Radiant, a startup developing portable nuclear micro‑reactors, is looking for a Lead Test Engineer to own the testing strategy for its power‑generation system. The role will build and run a dedicated test site, evaluate turbomachinery, heat exchangers, controls and primary cooling systems, and guide the team through development to production acceptance.

Key responsibilities

• Define, design and commission the test site, including rigs, fixtures, instrumentation and support systems for high‑speed rotating machinery and thermal‑fluid components.
• Develop and execute test strategies across development, qualification and production phases, setting objectives, success criteria and data acquisition plans.
• Lead vibration, rotordynamic and bearing testing, translating analytical predictions into targeted test campaigns.
• Establish operating procedures, safety controls and facility readiness for high‑energy, high‑temperature environments.
• Collaborate with mechanical design, analysis, manufacturing and operations teams to validate and robustify turbomachinery designs.
• Mentor engineers and technicians, ensuring day‑to‑day testing is performed safely and efficiently.

Required profile

• Hands‑on technical leader with experience in testing high‑speed turbomachinery or similar power‑generation hardware.
• Proven ability to build test infrastructure from concept to operation.
• Strong analytical background to interpret vibration, rotordynamic and thermal‑fluid data.
• Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration and mentorship.
