Lead Technical Architect – Remote (US)

About the role

The Technical Lead / Technical Architect will provide hands‑on technical leadership and architectural direction for enterprise‑scale application solutions. Working remotely from anywhere in the United States, you will guide development teams to deliver secure, scalable, and maintainable systems that align with USPS technology standards and policies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead one or more application teams, setting architecture direction, design guidelines, engineering standards, and overseeing delivery.
• Translate complex technical concepts, trade‑offs, and risks into clear language for USPS executives and managers.
• Partner with managers, business analysts, and project leaders to define solution scope, technical approaches, effort estimates, and delivery plans.
• Collaborate with CASI architects and NIT leaders to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, integration patterns, security controls, and platform standards.
• Create and maintain solution designs, reference architectures, integration diagrams, environment topologies, and architecture decision records.
• Conduct code and design reviews to ensure quality, performance, security, and compliance with standards.
• Establish and enforce best practices for CI/CD, branching, testing, and operational readiness.
• Identify technical risks early, drive root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventative actions.

Required profile

• Proven hands‑on technical leadership experience in enterprise application development.
• Strong ability to communicate technical information to senior business stakeholders.
• Experience working in cross‑functional teams that include managers, analysts, and architects.
