Lead Operator

About the role

Dura-Line, an Orbia Connectivity Solutions business, is hiring a Lead Operator in Elyria, Ohio. The role works day shift (6am-6pm) on alternating weekends, working 15 days a month, with bi-weekly pay covering 84 hours per pay period (76 regular hours and 9 hours of overtime). The starting pay is $27.00 per hour, with a possible quarterly bonus of up to 5% of earnings.

Key responsibilities

• Use tools and measuring devices to check that the finished product meets specifications and to spot abnormalities.
• Work with team members so orders are wound onto reels correctly, with neat wraps.
• Cut, tie off and cap conduit when reels or cable are complete.
• Monitor print and footage and make corrections as needed.
• Check product and packaging requirements and complete paperwork for inventory transactions.
• Assist the line operator during start-ups and help operators with cutting, tie-offs and reel changes.
• Take part in training, safety and continuous improvement activities, and report unsafe conditions and broken equipment.

Required profile

• Around 1 year of equipment or machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to stand and walk 8-12 hours, climb, reach, squat and bend, and work in noisy environments with temperature variation.
• Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs and wear required PPE.
• Basic math, measurement and reading comprehension skills.
