Lead Distributed Systems Engineer

About the role

Lead the architecture and implementation of an edge data distribution system for private 5G networks, ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient synchronization of subscriber state between cloud and edge nodes.

Key responsibilities

• Define architecture and technical direction for change propagation, reconciliation, and consistency across edge nodes.
• Provide hands‑on engineering, building the most challenging parts of the system yourself.
• Maintain a technical roadmap, balancing immediate deployment needs with long‑term investments.
• Recruit, develop, and retain strong distributed‑systems engineers, setting clear technical standards.
• Partner cross‑functionally with product, forward‑deployed engineers, and customers to translate constraints into solutions.
• Work directly with customers to ship solutions, observe performance in the field, and iterate on the product.

Required profile

• Deep experience designing and operating distributed systems in production, with strong knowledge of replication, consistency, and partition failure modes.
• Proven ability to build event‑driven architectures using technologies such as Kafka, SQS, MQTT, RabbitMQ, Flink, or Spark.
• Track record of delivering correct systems under pressure where data loss is unacceptable.
• Engineering leadership experience as a manager or tech lead, with concrete examples of growing engineers and owning technical bets end‑to‑end.
• Excellent communication skills to explain consistency guarantees to customers and operational realities to engineers.
