Lead Dentist for Mobile Dental Clinic (ECRH)

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities seeks a Director & Lead Dentist to run its Mobile Dental Clinic. Based at East Central Regional Hospital – Gracewood Campus in Augusta, the role involves daily travel across 26 rural counties to provide dental care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, treat and prevent oral diseases, perform restorative, endodontic and simple surgical procedures, and fabricate prosthodontic appliances.
• Prescribe antibiotics, pain medication and other necessary drugs while adhering to infection‑control standards.
• Educate patients, caregivers and facility staff on preventive oral care using sensory‑friendly communication.
• Supervise and mentor dental hygienists and assistants, and oversee daily workflow of the mobile unit.
• Operate the mobile clinic vehicle, manage equipment transport, and ensure safety protocols on‑site.

Required profile

• Doctorate or professional degree in dentistry (DDS/DMD) from an accredited institution.
• Current, active Georgia dental license.
• Minimum one year of clinical dentistry experience; three years at a comparable level is preferred.
• Experience serving individuals with intellectual, developmental or complex physical/behavioral needs.
• Willingness to travel daily across a 26‑county region and occasional overnight trips.
