Lead Data Scientist, Platform Product

About the role

As a Lead Data Scientist on the Platform Product team at Anthropic, you will drive data‑informed decision‑making for the Developer Platform that powers Claude’s API, agent orchestration, and integrations. Working closely with product, engineering, and go‑to‑market teams, you will uncover growth opportunities, evaluate platform changes, and shape the roadmap for a safe and beneficial AI ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain core metrics and reporting frameworks to assess platform success.
• Conduct deep analyses of product and usage data to generate actionable insights and size opportunities.
• Design and execute rigorous causal‑inference experiments, including A/B tests and synthetic controls.
• Investigate anomalies, perform root‑cause analyses, and provide data‑driven recommendations.
• Build statistical models, optimization tools, and simulations to automate operational decisions.
• Present complex findings clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Help establish foundational data practices and scale analytics infrastructure as the platform grows.

Required profile

• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data‑visualisation tools.
• Strong expertise in experimental design, causal inference, statistical modelling, and A/B testing in high‑scale environments.
• Experience collaborating with product or engineering teams on API or developer‑facing products, influencing roadmap and strategy.
• Excellent written communication and presentation skills, able to translate complex analysis into clear recommendations.
