Lead Accountant – Full Cycle & Team Lead

About the role

We are looking for a Lead Accountant to own full‑cycle accounting and monthly financial reporting for two growing operating companies within a privately held services organization in Dallas. The role combines hands‑on journal entry work, oversight of AP/AR processes, and partnership with operations leaders to support strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and review journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations while transitioning the organization from cash‑ to accrual‑basis accounting.
• Oversee daily accounts‑payable and accounts‑receivable workflow, including voucher approval, expense coding, payment scheduling, deposit posting and collections.
• Maintain a clean general ledger and balance‑sheet schedules, resolving discrepancies before period‑end deadlines.
• Monitor ERP activity for production, inventory, purchasing and customer rebates; investigate variances and correct data issues.
• Partner with the Director of Operations on inventory counts, monthly reviews and ad‑hoc financial analysis.
• Supervise and develop an AP/AR clerk, setting priorities and fostering a culture of accuracy and continuous improvement.
• Uphold internal controls and corporate accounting policies to ensure audit readiness.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• At least 5 years of progressive full‑cycle general‑ledger experience.
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ability to translate cash‑basis activity to accrual reporting.
• Proven financial‑statement ownership for multiple entities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Prior supervisory experience or readiness to coach an AP/AR professional.
