Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Technician III

About the role

GDIT is looking for a Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Technician III to join its team and perform installation, maintenance and repair of telecommunications systems. The role involves lead-level hands-on work supporting communications systems or equipment, with the technical knowledge to solve complex problems and exercise independent judgment. It is an on-site customer site position with less than 10% travel required.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot and repair Motorola and other Land Mobile Radio equipment, including communications consoles, repeaters, XTS-5000 and other handheld radios, trunked and non-trunked LMR systems, key loaders, antennas, multi-couplers, duplexers and site controllers
• Use test equipment such as service monitors, communication system analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, frequency counters, power meters, spectrum analyzers and digital recording equipment
• Install LMR base stations, repeaters and mobile radios
• Manage LMR shop operations in a large-scale LMR shop and use equipment tracking databases

Required profile

• 3+ years of related experience, including 2 years of hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting, supervision and shop practice
• AA/AS degree
• Secret clearance currently held, with the ability to obtain it; public trust not required
• US citizenship required

Required skills

• Hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting of LMR equipment
• Installation of LMR base stations, repeaters and mobile radios
• Shop operations and management experience in a large-scale LMR shop
• Familiarity with equipment tracking databases
