Labor and Employment Counsel

About the role

Our regional law firm is seeking an experienced Labor and Employment Counsel to join its Litigation Practice Group. The position offers a senior‑level, full‑time role with autonomy, client interaction, and a mix of litigation and advisory work.

Key responsibilities

• Defend employment‑related claims in both insured and uninsured litigation matters.
• Advise employers on compliance, risk management, and employment practices.
• Manage cases independently from inception through resolution, including depositions, motions, and court appearances.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on day‑to‑day employment issues.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of labor and employment litigation experience, preferably on the defense side.
• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Louisiana.
• Ability to independently manage a caseload and client relationships.
• Strong writing, analytical, and communication abilities.

Required skills

• Excellent legal research and drafting skills.
• Proficiency in courtroom advocacy and deposition handling.
