Lab Technician – Research

About the role

The Apfeld Lab in the Biology Department at Northeastern University seeks a Lab Technician to study genetic interactions that affect the lifespan of the nematode C. elegans using genetics, live imaging, and quantitative analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Generate transgenic C. elegans strains and conduct lifespan assays.
• Assist with data analysis, interpretation, and preparation of manuscripts.
• Maintain laboratory operations, including preparation of stock solutions and media.
• Mentor undergraduate students and support ongoing research projects.

Required profile

• Recent or upcoming bachelor’s degree in a relevant life‑science field (e.g., Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Microbiology).
• Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail and training in research methodology and quantitative data analysis.
