Lab Support Technician II – Clinical Lab Support

About the role

The Lab Support Technician II provides critical front‑line support for specimen receipt, processing, and data entry in a high‑volume clinical laboratory. The role ensures accurate labeling, proper tube selection, and timely entry of orders into the EPIC system while delivering excellent customer service to internal and external clients.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, verify, and label specimens from all sources, ensuring correct collection and tube type.
• Load specimen racks onto automation lines and scan specimens into EPIC, re‑labeling as needed.
• Enter orders and add‑on tests in EPIC for outside institutions and process timed urine, mail‑in, and reference specimens.
• Answer phone calls regarding results, fax reports, and coordinate specimen collection requests.
• Reconcile packing lists, process VA and ACH specimens, and assist with training new technicians.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of laboratory experience, with strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow oral instructions, basic computer/keyboard proficiency, and telephone etiquette.
• Excellent customer‑service orientation.
• Preferred: 2+ years of clinical laboratory experience.
