About the role
The Kiln Fireman operates and monitors tunnel kilns to ensure bricks are properly dried and fired according to production and quality standards. The role involves temperature monitoring, equipment adjustments, record keeping, and safety reporting in a continuous manufacturing environment.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor kiln temperatures, firing data, burner performance and report abnormalities.
- Adjust burners, valves and related equipment to maintain proper firing conditions.
- Inspect burners, fans, kiln cars, dryers and related equipment before and during operation.
- Operate electric/hydraulic transfer cars (trams) to move and position kiln cars safely.
- Complete production records, inspections, equipment logs and assist maintenance with troubleshooting.
Required profile
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Manufacturing or industrial experience with basic mechanical aptitude.
Required skills
- Ability to read and follow safety procedures, work instructions and production documentation.
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting and ability to operate valves, controls and monitoring equipment.
