About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Juvenile Justice seeks a dedicated professional to provide social services that assist in rehabilitating juvenile offenders in custody or on probation. The specialist will develop and monitor rehabilitation plans, ensuring compliance with court‑ordered conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Interview youth regularly to evaluate progress and compliance with probation contracts.
• Recommend remedial or court action for non‑compliance and administer drug/alcohol testing.
• Prepare and maintain case files, write progress reports, and testify in court regarding offender backgrounds.
• Arrange medical, mental health, or substance‑abuse treatment and supervise community‑based sentences, including curfew checks.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in a related field with four years of social‑service experience, or six years of direct case‑management experience with offenders.
• Physical agility to meet agency standards and ability to perform field supervision duties.
• Experience at lower‑level Juvenile Probation/Parole Specialist positions (SSP131 or PSP241) is acceptable.
