About the role
The State of Georgia seeks a Juvenile Correctional Lieutenant to join the Macon Youth Development Center (YDC). In this position you will help create and maintain a safe, therapeutic, and educational environment for detained youth while providing leadership to staff.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise a unit or program as shift supervisor, ensuring custody, security, and care of youth.
- Maintain order and discipline through active supervision and intervention.
- Provide direct support, guidance, and structure to detained youth.
- Plan, assign, and oversee work of subordinate staff.
- Complete administrative paperwork, records, forms, and reports.
- Develop and enforce work and security procedures.
- Conduct contraband searches, inspections, and manage inventories, logs, keys, and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all facility policies, rules, and regulations.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one year of experience as a Juvenile Correctional Officer Sergeant (PSP222) or equivalent.
- Obtain Georgia POST certification within six months of employment.
- Preference for current POST certification, additional juvenile justice experience, or college coursework.
