Journeyman Maintenance Technician – Class A Multi‑Craft

About the role

As a Journeyman Maintenance Technician (Class A multi‑craft) at Nestlé Purina’s Fairburn plant, you will ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of highly automated pet‑food manufacturing equipment. This advanced position blends electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and welding expertise to keep production running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, robotic, and automated manufacturing equipment.
• Diagnose and repair PLC‑controlled systems, operator interfaces, motor controls, VFDs, and process control equipment.
• Read, interpret, and modify PLC ladder logic to improve equipment performance.
• Maintain three‑phase motors, power distribution, switchgear, control panels, and related electrical systems.
• Perform mechanical repairs on bearings, gearboxes, drive systems, conveyors, and other production equipment.
• Utilize welding, fabrication, machining, and hand tools for equipment modifications.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 5 years of verifiable industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Journeyman‑level maintenance skills demonstrated through an associate degree, apprenticeship, or relevant certification.

Required skills

• Electrical troubleshooting and motor control.
• Mechanical repair of bearings, gearboxes, and conveyors.
• Hydraulic and pneumatic system maintenance.
• PLC programming, ladder‑logic editing, and VFD operation.
• Robotics and automated equipment servicing.
