IT Security Architecture Intern

About the role

This paid summer internship runs from late May through early August and offers a hands‑on look at how cybersecurity is integrated into technology design and review. You will work under a mentor, apply classroom knowledge to real projects, and present your findings at the end of the term.

Key responsibilities

• Observe and learn security architecture and risk‑review activities, including how architects evaluate technology solutions.
• Read and interpret architecture diagrams, identifying users, systems, networks, data flows and security boundaries.
• Review existing security reference architecture templates and create or improve diagrams, documentation, checklists and summaries.
• Research common technology and security architecture patterns and summarize findings.
• Communicate technical topics clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences and deliver a final presentation on your projects.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, IT, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA and basic understanding of networking, identity & access, vulnerabilities, encryption and security controls.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and written/verbal communication skills.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Required skills

• Experience with Microsoft Visio or other UML diagramming tools.
• Security+ or other cybersecurity certification.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and diagramming applications.
