IT Developer

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring an IT Developer for its Global Custom Commerce/Blinds Office. The developer turns business requirements into detailed technical designs and builds and maintains production applications, reporting to the Manager of Software Development.

Key responsibilities

• Take business requirements and develop the full technical design for assigned mid-sized projects (20%).
• Apply working knowledge of databases to ensure proper usage in system design (20%).
• Follow corporate and regulatory processes, policies and standards (20%).
• Conduct test reviews on assigned projects and present findings and solutions to management (20%).
• Participate in daily stand-ups, bi-weekly iteration planning and other meetings (10%).
• Write clean code with good naming, sensible unit, integration and acceptance tests and comments (10%).

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States.
• Preferred: 3-5 years of related experience and experience developing programs for production.
• Preferred: BS in Computer Science or a related field; minimum education is a high school diploma or GED.
• Typical overnight travel under 10%, mostly sitting work in an indoor setting.

Required skills

• Web server-side development with C# and ASP.NET MVC.
• ORM technologies (NHibernate, Entity Framework) against SQL Server.
• Good documentation of requirements and communication of issues and solutions.
• Preferred: Agile (Scrum, XP), JavaScript/jQuery, document databases, NServiceBus, Git, and MVVM frameworks such as Knockout or Angular.
