IP Counsel – Trademarks & Domains

About the role

Anthropic is seeking an experienced IP Counsel to own and protect its global trademark and domain portfolio. The role involves guiding brand naming, managing prosecution, and leading enforcement to safeguard the company’s fast‑growing AI brands.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct trademark clearance for new model, product, and feature names, providing risk‑rated recommendations.
• Manage global trademark prosecution and portfolio strategy with outside counsel, including filing, office actions, and maintenance across jurisdictions.
• Lead end‑to‑end trademark and domain enforcement, assessing infringements, selecting mechanisms, and driving resolutions.
• Oversee online brand protection, coordinating with external vendors and IP specialists to address infringements and impersonations at scale.
• Develop and execute domain portfolio strategy, handling acquisitions, disputes, and recoveries.
• Respond to inbound trademark demands and support related litigation.
• Advise marketing, product, and go‑to‑market teams on brand usage, translating IP risk into practical guidance.
• Build playbooks and processes enabling a lean team to run a world‑class global brand protection practice.

Required profile

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
• Extensive experience in trademark and domain practice covering clearance, prosecution, portfolio management, and enforcement.
• Hands‑on experience running clearances, shaping filing strategies, and making enforcement decisions.
• Proven track record managing global trademark and domain portfolios, including UDRP proceedings and online enforcement.
• Strong judgment to prioritize matters and ability to explain reasoning to both legal and non‑legal stakeholders.
