International Trade Counsel – Global Trade Compliance

About the role

Alcon is seeking an International Trade Counsel to join its Global Trade Compliance team in Fort Worth, Texas. You will provide legal guidance on customs, export controls, and economic sanctions, supporting the company’s worldwide trade operations.

Key responsibilities

• Advise internal stakeholders on day‑to‑day international trade law matters, focusing on customs compliance and sanctions.
• Support the Head of Global Trade Compliance in designing and managing compliance tools and processes.
• Monitor regulatory changes and communicate their impact to business units.
• Manage audits, investigations, and other trade‑related controversies.
• Conduct internal reviews of trade‑compliance processes and deliver cross‑functional training.
• Represent Alcon before government agencies and industry groups.
• Assist with contracts, supply‑chain initiatives, M&A transitions, and customs‑broker negotiations.
• Oversee engagement of external counsel and consultants on trade‑compliance matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) and a license to practice law.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in international trade law, customs, export controls, or related fields.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, export‑control statutes, and economic sanctions.
• Experience managing trade‑compliance audits and investigations.
• Ability to draft and negotiate trade‑related agreements.
