Interim Chief Accounting Officer – Hybrid, Manhattan

About the role

This interim position provides executive oversight of a global corporate controller organization for a leading technology firm. The role is hybrid, requiring three days per week onsite in Manhattan, and offers a 9‑plus‑month engagement with the possibility of extension based on performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the global Corporate Controller function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting across all entities.
• Direct preparation and filing of SEC reports, including Forms 10‑K, 10‑Q, 8‑K and proxy statements.
• Establish and maintain accounting policies aligned with U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations and SOX standards.
• Oversee complex technical accounting matters such as M&A accounting, revenue recognition, stock‑based compensation, lease accounting and business combinations.
• Drive finance transformation initiatives to modernize processes, improve scalability and increase automation.
• Manage the global Internal Audit function and ensure robust enterprise‑wide controls.
• Maintain SOX 404 compliance, lead internal control assessments and coordinate remediation efforts.
• Engage directly with the Audit Committee on risk assessments, audit plans and control roadmaps.
• Serve as the primary accounting liaison to external auditors, regulatory bodies and the Audit Committee.
• Support capital‑markets activities, acquisitions, divestitures and financing transactions.

Required profile

• Proven executive leadership experience in accounting and corporate controllership.
• Extensive background in SEC reporting and SOX compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to lead global internal audit functions and enterprise‑wide control environments.
• Strong partnership skills with CFOs, audit committees and cross‑functional senior leaders.
