About the role
The Insurance Verification Specialist I supports the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences by confirming patient insurance coverage, obtaining authorizations, and ensuring accurate billing information for clinical services.
Key responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits using internal systems.
- Obtain prior authorizations and pre‑certifications for scheduled procedures.
- Communicate insurance requirements and coverage details to patients, providers, and billing staff.
- Document verification outcomes and update records in accordance with UAMS policies.
- Assist with resolving insurance discrepancies and answer related inquiries.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in health administration is a plus.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
Required skills
- Proficiency with insurance verification software and electronic health record systems.
- Basic computer skills, including data entry and navigation of web‑based applications.
