Instructional Support Specialist – Math

About the role

The Instructional Support Specialist (ISS) provides tutoring and academic assistance to students at Augusta Technical College’s Success Center, helping them overcome immediate educational challenges and succeed in their courses.

Key responsibilities

• Provide academic support to students using strategic learning methods and addressing immediate educational concerns.
• Prepare teaching materials tailored to students' abilities, goals, and interests.
• Maintain a positive, warm attitude that encourages learning.
• Monitor and document each student’s progress and provide progress reports as required.
• Utilize academic center monitoring software to track service utilization.
• Perform basic administrative duties to support daily operations of the Success Center.
• Work flexible schedules (morning, noon, evening) based on Success Center needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution (minimum).
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in the subject area.
• Experience with tutoring, supplemental instruction, or academic support.
• Experience working with diverse populations and higher‑education retention programs.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Windows 11 operating system.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
