Inside Account Manager – Academic & Government Accounts

About the role

The Inside Account Manager will own a portfolio of academic and government customers, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the customer lifecycle. You will drive engagement, subscription renewals and adoption of Elsevier solutions while identifying strategic growth opportunities across your territory.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of academic and government accounts, serving as the primary inside sales contact.
• Drive customer retention through subscription renewals, risk identification and value‑maximizing strategies.
• Conduct proactive outreach via phone, email and virtual meetings to increase product adoption and uncover expansion opportunities.
• Develop pricing proposals, renewal strategies and business cases while negotiating within established guidelines.
• Partner with Field Account Managers and cross‑functional teams to execute strategic account plans.
• Maintain accurate account plans, pipelines and forecasts in Salesforce.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience in account management, inside sales or customer success, preferably with academic or government customers.
• Strong consultative selling and relationship‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for interacting with librarians, faculty and institutional leaders.
• Proven ability to manage multiple relationships and prioritize competing demands.
• Analytical mindset to interpret usage trends and develop strategic recommendations.
