Information Technology Network Architect

About the role

The Texas A&M University System Offices are seeking a senior technical leader to design, implement, and evolve the campus‑wide network architecture for the RELLIS Campus in Bryan, Texas. This role will guide the development of LAN, WAN, wireless, data‑center, and security overlay solutions while ensuring performance, scalability, reliability, and security.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the RELLIS campus network architecture (LAN, WAN, wireless, data‑center, security overlays).
• Develop, enforce, and maintain network engineering standards, design methodologies, and best practices.
• Review and approve network design plans, installation procedures, and testing standards.
• Evaluate emerging technologies for alignment with strategic objectives.
• Serve as the senior technical escalation point for complex network issues.
• Oversee problem‑management processes, including root‑cause analysis and enterprise‑level troubleshooting.
• Ensure reliability, security, and performance of all network services supporting campus tenants.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the Network Team, providing technical guidance and coordinating engineering activities.
• Set priorities, assign work, and supervise execution of network projects and operational tasks.
• Collaborate with campus leadership on planning, staffing, and long‑term network strategy.

• Senior‑level professional with extensive experience in enterprise network architecture and design.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage large‑scale network projects.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a focus on reliability and security.
