HVAC Technician V

About the role

Amentum is looking for an HVAC Technician V to join its Central Support Travel Team. The role provides advanced expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting and delivering preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical and HVAC equipment and systems. It involves frequent travel to client sites, weekend and night work, and a pay range of $40-$50 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair industrial facility mechanical systems, HVAC equipment, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and boilers, chillers, air handling units, rooftop units and cooling towers.
• Troubleshoot and repair BAS and BMS systems (Johnson Controls, Siemens, Schneider Electric) and all refrigerant and refrigeration systems, including licensed refrigerant application and reclaiming.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and actions such as lubrication, cleaning and filter changes.
• Repair blowers, fans, heat exchange equipment and carry out basic pipefitting repairs.
• Work with colleagues across disciplines, coordinate work, and provide technical guidance to less experienced staff.
• May train other technicians, run experiments and tests, take quantities, enter data and build models, and write formal reports.
• Travel to client sites, often 80% of the time, with travel expenses reimbursed; weekend and overtime work is common.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent and 6 years of experience.
• Ability to work safely with 3-phase power up to 480V and to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Good organization, time management, self-motivation and integrity; availability on nights and weekends.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a security access badge at the client site.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and stairs repeatedly, kneel and squat, and walk extensively; steel-toe shoes and PPE required.
