About the role

The University of Arkansas is seeking two HVAC Mechanic I professionals to join its facilities team in Fayetteville. This entry‑level position supports the campus’s heating, ventilation, and air‑conditioning systems, ensuring a comfortable environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment across campus buildings.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues.
• Install, replace, and calibrate components such as compressors, fans, and thermostats.
• Maintain accurate service records and complete required documentation.
• Follow safety protocols and university policies while working on active systems.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an HVAC apprenticeship or technical program.
• Relevant certification (e.g., EPA 608) preferred.
• Ability to work in a campus environment and follow procedural guidelines.
• Valid driver’s license is advantageous.

Required skills

• Knowledge of HVAC system components and operation.
• Ability to read schematics and technical manuals.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools used in mechanical repair.
• Understanding of safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures.
