HR Business Partner - Operations

About the role

Alfa Laval is looking for an HR Business Partner to embed HR expertise directly on the shop floor of its Richmond factory. You will act as the primary HR contact for production managers and supervisors, supporting daily people, performance, and culture needs while driving key HR initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day HR support on shift management, absences, performance issues, workplace climate and employee relations.
• Conduct employee‑relations counseling, performance‑improvement discussions and exit interviews.
• Manage recruitment, screening, interviewing, offers, onboarding and follow‑up for blue‑collar and technical roles.
• Partner with Production Leadership and EHS to embed safety expectations in onboarding, training and performance management.
• Coordinate HR projects related to training, well‑being, inclusion & diversity, digitalization and employee engagement.
• Support workforce and resource planning, and maintain partnerships with local technical schools and training centers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in an operational HR role, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Willingness and ability to work onsite in a production setting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage both managers and shop‑floor employees.
• Hands‑on, proactive and solution‑oriented mindset with high organizational agility.

Required skills

• Proficiency with HRIS platforms such as Workday and ADP.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.
