HPC Linux System Administrator

About the role

Amentum, NASA's largest engineering solutions provider, is recruiting an experienced HPC System Administrator for its JETS contract at Johnson Space Center (JSC). The role supports the Flight Sciences Laboratory (FSL), one of JSC's main compute labs that hosts analyses for human-spaceflight programs such as the ISS, Orion, SLS, Commercial Crew, HLS and Moon Base. The FSL runs over 700 machines, 26,000 cores and more than 10 PB of storage for over 1,000 users.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain all FSL services with a team of HPC System Administrators
• Administer High Performance Compute (HPC) systems and high-end Linux workstations
• Manage high-speed networking and high-speed parallel filesystems
• Investigate system problems, monitor system health proactively and work with FSL users to keep them supported

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in a related field, typically with at least 5 years of experience
• Experience in Linux system administration, system configuration management, container-based HPC workflows, complex CI/CD workflows and HPC job scheduler administration
• Demonstrated problem-solving, planning and communication skills, and ability to work in a team
• Experience with large-scale system administration, including 2 years in HPC administration
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency and completion of a U.S. government background investigation
