About the role

The Chaplain provides spiritual and religious care to patients, families, and staff at the Georgia Regional Hospital System (GRHS) in Savannah. The role involves facilitating spiritual support for individuals of any faith or no faith, tailored to each person’s needs. The department collaborates closely with interdisciplinary teams and partners with community faith leaders to ensure comprehensive spiritual services throughout the hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Meet the spiritual and religious needs of mental‑health patients in an inpatient setting.
• Provide direct pastoral care through one‑on‑one counseling and group sessions.
• Conduct public worship services and coordinate with community faith leaders to serve diverse spiritual perspectives.
• Educate hospital staff on faith‑sensitive issues related to direct patient care.
• Coordinate with community care providers from diverse faith perspectives to meet ongoing spiritual needs of patients.

Required profile

• Licensed ordained minister.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, seminary, or university.
• Minimum three years’ ministry experience; experience with adult or forensic mental‑health populations is a plus.
