Home Care Aide - Marin

About the role

Institute on Aging (IOA) provides home care services to older adults and adults with disabilities in Marin County. Home Care Aides deliver direct services in clients' homes under the direction and supervision of the Staffing and Client Service Managers. The position offers part-time, full-time and 4-8 hour shifts, including weekends, with services available 7 days a week.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting
• Accompany clients to shopping, errands or doctor's appointments
• Help with transfers, ambulation and exercise
• Prepare meals including special diets and assist with feeding
• Perform light housekeeping such as vacuuming, dusting, laundry and linen changes
• Remind clients about medication and provide companionship

Required profile

• Home Care Services Bureau (PER ID#) registration
• Livescan/fingerprinting clearance and a clean criminal background
• Tuberculosis clearance (skin test, X-ray or blood test)
• Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. (two I-9 compliant IDs, e.g. driver's license, California ID, SS card, US passport)
• English language proficiency is a must
• At least 1 year of non-medical professional experience caring for elderly or disabled adults, or related caregiving experience
• Desirable: CNA or HHA certification; students and retirees of LVN/RN backgrounds are encouraged to apply

Required skills

• Ability to get to and from client assignments by car or public transportation
• Ability to lift 50 lbs or more with proper body mechanics, and to transfer, push, pull, reach, bend, walk and reposition
• Teamwork, reliability, customer service and continuous communication with the administrative team
• Desirable: basic smartphone and computer skills

What we offer

• Pay range of $21-$23.50 per hour, depending on experience, client needs and other factors
