Histology Technician I

About the role

The IHC/IFC Technician I will primarily support advanced immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence projects, optimizing complex protocols, validating antibodies, and preparing slides for both diagnostic and research applications. The role also includes cross‑training in the diagnostic histology laboratory to perform routine tissue processing and preparation for pathologist review.

Key responsibilities

• Optimize and validate IHC/IFC protocols and antibodies.
• Stain slides for diagnostic and research cases using automated and manual techniques.
• Perform routine histology tasks: tissue receipt, processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining.
• Maintain equipment, conduct quality‑control checks, and troubleshoot staining artifacts.
• Support student workers and fellow technicians in daily laboratory operations.

Required profile

• High school diploma with at least two years of laboratory experience.
• Preferred: two years of experience in microtomy, tissue processing, and basic IHC/IFC techniques.
• HT (ASCP), HTL (ASCP) or equivalent certification is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or a related field is desirable.
