About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Health Aide/Driver to support individuals in a mental health setting. The role combines patient care with transportation duties, ensuring safe and reliable travel to appointments, treatments, and community activities.

Key responsibilities

• Drive individuals to medical appointments, recreational activities, and discharge locations, often covering long distances.
• Provide basic patient care, including taking vital signs, assisting with bathing, and supporting daily living skills.
• Document patient observations, behavior, and vital signs in the Electronic Medical Record.
• Prepare individuals for treatments or examinations and accompany them to treatment units.
• Maintain safety and security of individuals during transport and while on the unit.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license with a clear motor‑vehicle record.
• At least 1 year of direct care experience, preferably in mental health.
• Minimum age of 21 years and at least 3 years of driving experience.
