Health Aide Supervisor – State of Georgia

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Health Aide Supervisor to lead and support direct‑care staff delivering essential services to individuals with behavioral health and developmental‑disability needs.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, guide, and instruct Health Aides and other direct‑care staff.
• Plan and assign daily work, ensuring adequate staffing coverage.
• Monitor staff performance, provide training, coaching, and corrective guidance.
• Ensure individuals receive assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, toileting, and mobility.
• Observe and report changes in behavior, physical condition, or emotional status to nursing or clinical staff.
• Implement treatment, behavioral‑support, and individualized service plans.
• Review staff documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Maintain a safe, clean, therapeutic environment and ensure safety checks, rounds, and incident reports are completed.
• Respond to emergencies, behavioral incidents, and crisis situations.
• Assist with employee training, scheduling, performance evaluations, and attendance monitoring.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED plus two years of related experience, including at least one year in a lead‑worker, team‑leader, or supervisory role.
• Or one year of experience as a Health Aide 3 (HCS022) or equivalent position.
• Preferred experience supervising direct‑care employees in hospital, behavioral health, residential, or developmental‑disabilities settings.
• Experience working with individuals diagnosed with behavioral health conditions or intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Knowledge of crisis‑prevention, behavior‑management, infection‑control, and patient‑safety procedures.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Valid driver’s license with eligibility to drive state vehicles as needed.
