Health Aide 2 – Evening Shift at East Central Regional Hospital

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a compassionate Health Aide 2 to join the East Central Regional Hospital team in Augusta. This evening‑shift position supports adults with serious mental illness, helping them stay safe, develop daily living skills, and progress toward community reintegration.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility.
• Take vital signs and prepare patients for medical appointments.
• Facilitate group activities, crafts, and social‑skill practice.
• Monitor patient areas to prevent conflicts and ensure safety.
• Conduct safety checks for prohibited items and assist with de‑escalation.
• Document patient progress and behavior in the electronic system.
• Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and counselors as an integral care‑team member.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least six months of related experience; preferably two years in a hospital, nursing home, or similar setting.
• Experience working with individuals who have mental‑health, trauma, or behavioral challenges.
• Ability to remain calm and kind under stressful conditions.
• Successful completion of a full criminal background check and drug screening.
