About the role
Join the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities as a Health Aide 2 at East Central Regional Hospital. You will work on the day shift providing direct care and support to adults with serious mental illness, trauma histories, and behavioral challenges.
Key responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility.
- Take vital signs, prepare patients for medical appointments, and document observations.
- Facilitate social skills practice, self‑care routines, and group activities like games or crafts.
- Transport patients to appointments and campus activities.
- Monitor patient areas to ensure safety, conduct contraband checks, and intervene to de‑escalate upset patients.
- Record patient progress and behavior in the electronic system and communicate with doctors, nurses, and counselors.
Required profile
- High school diploma/GED (or associate degree) with less than 24 months related experience, or two years of experience in a hospital, nursing home, group home, or similar setting.
- Experience working with individuals who have mental health conditions, trauma, or behavioral challenges.
- Ability to remain calm and compassionate in stressful situations.
- Willingness to undergo a full criminal background check and drug screening.
