Health Aide 1 – Night Shift at East Central Regional Hospital

About the role
The State of Georgia is seeking a compassionate Health Aide 1 to join the night‑shift team at East Central Regional Hospital in Augusta. You will work directly with doctors, nurses and counselors to support adults living with serious mental illness, trauma and behavioral challenges, helping them stay safe and progress toward community reintegration.
Key responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, eating and mobility.
- Take vital signs and prepare patients for medical appointments.
- Facilitate social skills practice and self‑care routines.
- Lead group activities and recreational programs.
- Monitor patient areas to prevent conflicts and ensure safety.
- Conduct safety checks for prohibited items and de‑escalate upset patients.
- Document patient observations and communicate with the care team.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one year of experience in a hospital, nursing home, group home or similar setting.
- Experience working with individuals who have mental health or behavioral challenges.
- Ability to remain calm and kind in stressful situations.
- Successful completion of a state‑mandated criminal background check and drug screening.
