About the role
The State of Georgia is seeking a compassionate Health Aide 1 to join the team at East Central Regional Hospital in Augusta. This evening‑shift position supports adults with serious mental illness, helping them stay safe, develop daily living skills, and progress toward community reintegration.
Key responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility.
- Take vital signs, prepare patients for medical appointments, and document observations.
- Facilitate group activities and teach positive social and self‑care skills.
- Monitor patient areas to prevent conflicts and ensure a safe environment.
- Conduct safety checks on new admissions and help de‑escalate upset patients.
- Record patient progress and behavior in the electronic system and communicate with the care team.
- Transport patients to appointments and hospital activities as needed.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least six months of experience in a hospital, nursing home, group home, or similar care setting.
- Ability to remain calm and kind during stressful situations.
- Successful completion of a full criminal background check and drug screening.
