Head of Finance / Controller

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Head of Finance / Controller to lead accounting and finance functions for a fast‑growing consumer products company in New York City. This high‑visibility, hands‑on role combines core accounting ownership with financial planning, analysis, forecasting, cash management, and strategic partnership across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Direct monthly, quarterly and annual close processes, ensuring accurate financial statements and reporting.
• Own budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis, providing insights on revenue, gross margin, inventory and operating expenses.
• Develop financial models, dashboards and reporting tools for senior leadership.
• Oversee inventory accounting, COGS, product margins, accruals and other accounting matters specific to a consumer‑products business.
• Partner with sales, operations, supply chain and merchandising leaders to evaluate performance, pricing, investments and new product initiatives.
• Manage cash flow, working capital, banking relationships and liquidity planning.
• Lead, mentor and scale the accounting/finance team while implementing NetSuite‑based process improvements.
• Establish internal controls, accounting policies and ensure compliance with US GAAP.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors and other financial partners.

Required profile

• 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with significant leadership responsibility.
• Strong accounting foundation complemented by solid FP&A, budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow expertise.
• Experience in consumer products, CPG, retail or e‑commerce environments preferred.
• Deep understanding of inventory, COGS, gross margin and working capital dynamics.
