Head of Credit & Underwriting

About the role

Atlas is seeking a senior leader to own all credit and underwriting decisions for its high‑net‑worth charge‑card portfolio. Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Head of Credit & Underwriting will shape how members are approved, how limits are set, and how the credit facility is managed.

Key responsibilities

• Design and operate end‑to‑end line‑sizing models that adjust limits dynamically based on payment behavior and cash flow.
• Lead the application and onboarding pipeline, partnering with engineering to reduce time‑to‑decision and select data sources (bureau, alternative, bank connectivity).
• Build and maintain the Atlas Business underwriting engine using entity‑level data such as Secretary of State filings, business credit bureaus and bank information.
• Manage relationships with credit facilities, working with the VP of Finance on warehouse operations, covenant compliance, draw optimization and lender reporting.
• Develop collections and loss‑mitigation processes, including early‑warning systems and recovery strategies to sustain low loss rates.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading credit underwriting for complex, high‑value customers, preferably in fintech or financial services.
• Deep understanding of charge‑card risk profiles and ability to assess applicants with limited traditional credit data.
• Strong analytical mindset with comfort working directly with data and engineering teams.
• Track record of building scalable credit policies and managing facility relationships.
