GSE Mechanic - Customs and Border Protection

About the role

Amentum is recruiting a Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic for Customs and Border Protection. The mechanic diagnoses malfunctions and repairs GSE, keeping equipment serviceable and ready for aircraft maintenance and flying operations.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnostics and repair of less complex maintenance problems, using drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics and technical publications
• Use automated maintenance data systems to track trends, record equipment and document maintenance actions
• Service equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant and compressed air, and maintain external fuel and grounding systems
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and inspect, test and operate GSE to check serviceability
• Disassemble, clean, treat for corrosion, assemble and reinstall GSE components, and mark them according to technical publications
• Store, handle, label and dispose of hazardous materials and waste in line with environmental standards
• Prepare GSE for storage and mobility deployment, and operate, clean and service GSE towing vehicles
• Maintain vehicle and equipment records, provide dispatch service for GSE, and support aircraft maintenance and flying operations
• Keep the area clean, control tools, prevent foreign object damage and follow safety rules

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent from an accredited program
• Valid commercial driver's license with a HAZMAT endorsement
• Ability to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance (US citizenship required)
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English, and to interpret data
• Physical ability to lift at least 50 lbs and to work in variable weather and noisy conditions; own tools required

Required skills

• Proficiency in Office software, especially Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
• Use of multi-meters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers and similar diagnostic equipment
