Ground Support Equipment Mechanic - Customs and Border Protection

About the role

Amentum is recruiting a Ground Support Equipment Mechanic for the Customs and Border Protection mission. The mechanic diagnoses malfunctions and repairs ground support equipment (GSE), supports aircraft maintenance and flying operations, and keeps equipment records and maintenance logs.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair GSE, using drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics and technical publications
• Train and advise lower-grade workers, approve completed maintenance actions and monitor maintenance trends with automated data systems
• Maintain external fuel and grounding systems and perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
• Service equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant and compressed air
• Disassemble, clean, treat for corrosion, assemble and mark GSE components according to technical publications
• Store, handle, label and dispose of hazardous materials and waste in line with environmental standards
• Prepare GSE for storage and mobility deployment, and operate, clean and service GSE towing vehicles
• Maintain vehicle and equipment records, provide dispatch service and position equipment for aircraft maintenance and flying operations
• Keep the work area clean, control tools, prevent foreign object damage and ensure safety; may travel to support customer missions

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent from an accredited program
• Current valid state driver's license and a commercial driver's license with HAZMAT endorsement
• At least 2 years of full-time experience on diesel generators and vehicles, and 1 year on gasoline engines and vehicles
• Ability to obtain and maintain a CBP background investigation suitability clearance (US citizenship required)
• Proficiency in Office software, especially Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English, and to interpret data
