Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic who diagnoses malfunctions and repairs ground support equipment used to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations. The role involves hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting and record keeping, and may require travel to other CBP locations.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnostics and repair of less complex maintenance problems, using drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics and technical publications
• Use automated maintenance data systems to track trends, equipment requirements and records, and document maintenance actions
• Diagnose and repair GSE with multi-meters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers and hand tools
• Maintain external fuel and grounding systems, and perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
• Service equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant and compressed air
• Disassemble, clean, treat for corrosion, assemble and mark GSE components according to technical publications
• Store, label and dispose of hazardous materials and waste in line with environmental standards
• Prepare GSE for storage and mobility deployment, and operate, clean and service GSE towing vehicles
• Maintain vehicle and equipment records, provide dispatch service and position equipment for aircraft maintenance and flying operations
• Keep the area clean, control tools, prevent foreign object damage and follow safety rules

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent from an accredited program
• At least 2 years of full-time experience on diesel generators and vehicles, and 2 years on gasoline engines and vehicles
• Commercial driver's license (CDL) with HAZMAT endorsement
• Ability to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance (US citizenship required)
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English, and to interpret data
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and to work in variable weather and noisy conditions; own tools required

Required skills

• Proficiency in Office software, especially Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
• Ability to meet deadlines and maintain workflow
