GN&C Engineer

About the role

Amentum, a contractor supporting NASA's deep space exploration programs, is looking for a GN&C Engineer to join its team. The role involves developing, integrating and testing guidance, navigation and control (GN&C) flight software and algorithms, working in an office environment with NASA civil servants and contractor colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate safety-critical flight software
• Develop, integrate and test GN&C algorithms
• Update GN&C flight software using MATLAB/Simulink/Autocode
• Analyze and test flight software using Python and C/C++
• Validate and verify GN&C algorithms and requirements
• Recommend improvements to flight software, its processes and procedures
• Perform deep-dive analyses of flight and simulation software
• Perform other duties as required

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering with field experience, or a Master's degree with 3+ years of experience or a PhD
• Significant knowledge of GN&C and significant experience with C/C++, Python and MATLAB (Simulink, Stateflow, Autocode)
• Experience with validation and verification of GN&C algorithms, and with flight software specialties such as GN&C development, software integration and build management
• Preferred: experience with Kalman filters, neural networks, UDU factorization, AI/ML, TRICK/JEOD simulation architecture, source code control, continuous integration and Agile development
• Ability to complete a U.S. government background investigation; proof of U.S. citizenship or permanent residency may be required
