Geospatial Business Analyst I

About the role

The Geospatial Business Analyst acts as a bridge between utility customers and EDM’s GIS technical teams, turning business needs into practical geospatial solutions. This role supports the full solution lifecycle from requirements gathering to production support, with a focus on vegetation management and line patrol products.

Key responsibilities

• Lead discovery sessions and workshops with utility customers to capture business requirements and workflows.
• Translate requirements into functional design artifacts such as process diagrams, user stories, use cases, and acceptance criteria for GIS development teams.
• Support solution implementation through testing, user acceptance testing, rollout planning, training, and production support.
• Provide subject‑matter expertise in electric‑utility vegetation management and line patrol to shape product enhancements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geography, GIS, Information Systems, Engineering, Forestry, Natural Resources or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in GIS, business analysis, utility operations or vegetation management.
• Proven ability to gather, analyze and document business processes and translate them into system designs.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills for interacting with both business and technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with Esri technologies: ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, Field Maps, Survey123, Experience Builder.
• Understanding of GIS concepts, spatial data, and web/mobile GIS applications.
