About the role
The Georgia Capitol Police Division seeks dedicated officers to protect life, property, and public safety on Capitol Hill. Positions are available for both non‑post‑certified cadets and post‑certified officers.
Key responsibilities
- Apprehend criminal suspects and coordinate with local jurisdictions.
- Direct traffic and enforce traffic laws during special events.
- Guard and monitor Capitol Hill buildings and provide event security.
- Investigate criminal activity and protect public and building security.
Required profile
- At least 18 years old, U.S. citizen, valid driver’s license, high school diploma or GED.
- Pass panel interview, background/polygraph, medical and psychological evaluations, and meet Georgia POST standards.
- Physical fitness standards: 30 sit‑ups in 1 min, 21 push‑ups in 1 min, 1.5‑mile run ≤ 15:34.
- Vision at least 20/100 uncorrected, corrected to 20/40 or better.
