General Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced General Manager to lead both Front of House and Back of House operations at the Museum of Ice Cream. The role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on involvement to ensure exceptional guest experiences, efficient inventory management and optimal staffing.

Key responsibilities

• Inspire and empower managers and teams to deliver seamless guest experiences.
• Work the floor alongside FOH and BOH staff to maintain smooth guest flow, adequate staffing and high service levels.
• Make real‑time labor and staffing decisions, resolve operational challenges and coordinate resources across departments.
• Champion the museum’s culture, gather employee feedback and foster a positive work environment.
• Lead daily and weekly management meetings to plan for peak periods, special events and operational priorities.
• Ensure the location meets financial targets including sales, inventory, operating costs and margin goals.
• Collaborate with FOH and BOH managers to optimise labour scheduling and control costs.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading high‑volume, guest‑facing operations.
• Strong people‑leadership skills with the ability to coach and develop teams.
• Analytical mindset focused on financial performance and operational efficiency.
• Hands‑on attitude, willing to work shifts, weekends and step in on the floor when needed.
• Excellent communication skills to ensure alignment between FOH and BOH.
