General Laborer – Greenspace & Parks Maintenance

About the role

The City of Jeffersonville is seeking an entry‑level General Laborer to support the Parks & Recreation department. You will work outdoors maintaining green spaces, city facilities, and public areas, ensuring they remain safe, clean, and welcoming for residents and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Perform grounds maintenance: mowing, planting, fertilizing, watering, pest and weed control, and snow removal.
• Maintain and repair equipment such as lawn mowers, chainsaws, small engines, and light‑duty trucks.
• Assist with building upkeep: waste collection, cleaning, minor plumbing/electrical repairs, and restocking supplies.
• Support special events by installing, removing, and storing tables, chairs, and displays.
• Help prepare athletic fields and aquatic center equipment for public use.
• Participate in construction‑related tasks: grading, drainage, foundation work, pothole repair, and sign maintenance.
• Collaborate with sanitation crews to collect and remove trash from streets and neighborhoods.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work safely with hand and power tools.
• Willingness to perform physical labor in various weather conditions.
