Fuel Purchasing Buyer

About the role

The Fuel Purchasing Buyer will manage the procurement of fuel across our network, ensuring reliable supply while minimizing cost. This full‑time position works closely with suppliers, logistics teams and senior management to support R+L Carriers’ transportation operations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor daily fuel inventory levels in real time.
• Solicit bids, review requisitions and issue purchase orders for bulk, spot and wet‑hosing fuel purchases.
• Secure product at the lowest possible price and coordinate deliveries to the correct volumes.
• Adjust load shifts based on local and global market conditions to maximize cost‑effective purchases.
• Negotiate and renegotiate contracts with major fuel suppliers.
• Serve as subject‑matter expert and mentor within the department.
• Track supply‑and‑demand changes, contract compliance and relevant regulations.
• Prepare reports on RFQ pricing, actual costs, market lows and averages for management.

Required profile

• 5‑10 years of fuel procurement experience, preferably in logistics.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• Strong computational and analytical abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.

Required skills

• Oracle procurement system.
• Oracle RFQ module.
• Microsoft Office suite.
• Familiarity with OPIS and ARGUS pricing tools.
