Fuel Purchasing Buyer

About the role

R+L Carriers is seeking a Fuel Purchasing Buyer to manage fuel procurement across its network. The role involves daily monitoring of fuel inventories, negotiating purchases, and ensuring cost‑effective delivery to meet operational needs.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor fuel inventory levels in real time.
• Solicit bids, review requisitions, and prepare purchase orders for bulk fuel, spot buying, and wet hosing.
• Secure product and services at the lowest possible price.
• Coordinate deliveries with suppliers to match required volumes.
• Adjust load shifts based on market conditions to maximize cost efficiency.
• Negotiate and renegotiate contracts with major suppliers.
• Serve as subject‑matter expert and mentor within the department.
• Track supply‑demand changes and stay informed on global and environmental factors.
• Monitor contract compliance and suggest improvements.
• Prepare reports on RFQ pricing, actual costs, and market trends.

Required profile

• 5‑10 years of fuel procurement experience, preferably in logistics.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• Strong analytical and computational abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Familiarity with OPIS and ARGUS pricing tools
